Design of active electrical zeroization switches capable of discharging volatile memory and erasing master secrets in nanoseconds.
Upon receiving an authorized tamper signal from any internal sensor, the HSMProtect zeroization bus activates high-speed silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCR) and low-impedance MOSFETs that short the memory power rails to ground, fully discharging all decoupling capacitors and erasing Battery-Backed RAM within 8 nanoseconds.
To counter cryogenic freezing attacks where volatile RAM data remains readable at liquid nitrogen temperatures (-196°C), HSMProtect applies active inverted-voltage discharge pulses across memory transistor gates, completely disrupting trapped oxide charges.
